Sacroiliac Joint Injection

A Sacroiliac joint injection is performed to diagnose the cause of your pain and possibility to treat the source of the pain by injecting the medicine at the joint. A Sacroiliac joint is located at the end of the spine where it meets the pelvis.
Sacroiliac injection is useful for patients with lower back, buttock, groin and/or leg pain. The Sacroiliac joint is the largest joint of your lower spine in your

How is it performed?
You will be positioned either lying on the stomach or your side or sitting up. The area around the procedure will be numbed with a local anesthetic medication. The physician will use fluoroscopy (a special x-ray) to guide the placement of the needle to the posterioinferior aspect of Sacroiliac joint. Once needle is in position, medication is injected. After CareDuring the injection pain will be increased temporarily. Following the procedure you may experience some initial discomfort for about 2 to 3 days. Please call us if you continue to have pain or notie swelling, redness, fever or experience a new onset of weaknesss. |
